Success Skills – Invest in Yourself
Life, Personal DevelopmentTo become successful, you need to ‘Invest in yourself’.
Investing in yourself means learning new things every day, exploring new ideas, sharpening your skills, mastering your craft, improving your confidence and more.
Find out what are the things important for your personal and professional lives. In other words, what are your GOALS and do you know what it takes to achieve them?
What skills you need to become a better student, a better programmer, a better marketer, a better employee, a better co-worker, a better son or a better daughter?
Let’s say you are a B. Tech student and want to excel in your chosen branch (CS, IT, EC, EN or ME) then don’t limit yourself to your text books only, try to find out what is happening in the industry, what is the current trend, what is it that you need to improve in your personality?
Do you need to be more communicative?
Do you need to inculcate positive thinking?
Do you need to better your spoken or written English?
Do you need to release some past hurt, hatred or bad feelings towards someone who created problems for you in the past?
Do you need to lose/gain weight to get into shape?
Is their any specific computer language you need to master to excel in your career? (may be C, C++, Java, dot net or whatever it happens to be).
What ever it is, take action- Read books, enroll in a certificate course, surf the internet, ask friends for resources, form a group of friends and start practicing for group discussions, mock interviews, attend seminars and workshops. (Seminars and workshops seems boring but believe me, you will get a lot out of them)
In order to grow as a successful person and professional, you need to keep on investing in you. It’s not a one day affair. It is an ongoing process -you learn something, apply that and then you look for something new to improve yourself further.
Start investing in your self today, you’ll thank yourself one day.
