Khadi Boli is the local dialect (Boli), spoken mainly in the Western part of UP and some parts of Haryana.
In Western UP, it’s spread across Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Baghpat, Meerut and surrounding areas.
I belong to Yahiyapur village in Muzaffarnagar district (Western UP) and want to share with you some common words used in Khadi Boli.

Dagda – Narrow path or road
Chakroad – Road/path leading to fields
Sod – Razai
Me – Rain
Khancha, Gara – Mud
Raqat – Useless thing or person
Kandi – Shrewd person
Diladdar – Good for nothing, Troublesome
Lamda – Boy
Lamdi – Girl
Mataari – Derogatory term used for one’s mother
Bawa – Derogatory term used for one’s father
Khalka – An earthen pot used for keeping waste food to feed cattle
Haandi – An earthen pot used for cooking food
Muqqadam – A term used to address senior, respected person of the village
Lundhiyar – A bunch of vagrant youth
Khalkat – People in large numbers
Senkal- Bicycle
Sankal- Chain or bolt used to keep the door shut
Diya – A small earthen pot used for lighting
Dangar Dhor – Cattle (Buffaloes, Cows, Oxen)
Daranti – Sickle
Chimta – A household accessory used to bake Roti (bread)
Gandasa – An agricultural machine used to cut fodder in pieces
Naaj – Grains (Wheat, Rice etc)
Dangwara – A mutual collaboration between two farmer families for helping each other in agricultural activities
Chillatar – Tantrums
Langhaar – Crowd (Usually, good for nothing)
Mundasa – A cloth used to cover head for protection
Unjhan – Water pumping set used to irrigate fields
Delivery – A 4-5 feet long pipe, (usually made of iron) used along with water pumping set to irrigate fields
Meel – Sugar Mill
Daant padnaa – To laugh shamelessly
Kisi ke peeche kutte chodna – To trouble someone without any apparent reason
Matth marna – To spoil the whole game (Nullifying own or someone’s efforts)
Kamakhat – Unlucky person
Nadiya tudana – To labor mindlessly
Naad – Neck
Bhasra – Derogatory term used for face
Pat – Thighs
Kaam – Work
Pavsana – To prepare cow or buffalo for milking
Nulana – To clean off weeds from field
Munh chadhana – Sulking
Randheen – Cooked dish
Rukka rola – Hustle bustle
Chupaad – A place in village where people sit together, usually in evening, to have a chat with each other
